Shawn Montague’s game has taken a 180 degree turn since falling into the hands of Keith Rado at Canterbury Prep. A once prolific spot up jump shooter has become an all around scoring talent. He is the odds on favorite to win the player of the year in New England this coming season, and has a chance to break the Canterbury scoring record.
He told me, “Once I got to Canterbury, Coach Rado made me more aggressive and taught me how to make plays. I am grateful to have him in my life.” As Shawn goes forward he will have to gain strength and prove his ball handling ability to be a high major player.
Nonetheless, Shawn is a special player and he knows that as long as he stays the course, good things will happen, “I just need to keep playing hard and at a consistent level; everything will fall into place in the end.”
To date, he has five Division 1 offers: Seton Hall, Manhattan, Robert Morris, Chattanooga, and Canisius. Other programs such as Florida, Boston University, Minnesota, Texas Tech and Providence have been in contact.
Later this summer, Shawn will make an appearance at Hoop Group Elite Session 1 where he is expected to receive close attention and several more offers.
